Stonewall Sports is an LGBTQ & Ally community-based, non-profit sports organization founded in 2010 that strives to raise funds for local non-profit organizations. Our league values each player for who they are and what they bring to the leagues community. Detroit was added to the Stonewall Sports family in 2019 through the vision of Mitchell Jeffery and David Russell. It was their vision to utilize recreational sports as a way to increase communal bonding within the Detroit LGBTQ+ community. 

This is an all gender, all experience level event. 

Date/Time: Every Thursday evening at 7:00 - 8:00 PM from August 20, 2020 until September 24, 2020. (6 weeks)

Facility: This season will be held at either the V.F.W. Park or Ruth Ellis to be determined after our "Pop Up" Yoga sessions on 7/30/20 & 8/6/20, in the event weather does not permit an outdoor session, the session will be moved online. 

Registration Cost: 45$, Includes registration and T-shirt

Registration Information: Registration for this event will run from August 2, 2020 until August 15, 2020.

• Participants:
  • I have never participated in Yoga before: That is more than alright! You certainly won't be the only one. This is an all experience level event. We encourage you to come, participate and learn yoga with us! 
  • I have a yoga background, will I be bored?: No! Our yoga instructors are used to working with a mixture of experience levels and can provide instruction for an advanced yoga position.
  • I have never participated in Stonewall before, is this a good event?: Yes! Nationally, yoga is the most popular sport for individuals to Stonewall Sports. We encourage you to register and look forward to welcoming you into the Stonewall family. 
  • Do I have to were the Stonewall shirt to participate?: No, in our other sports it is typically a requirement, as it is the sport uniform. However, for yoga we understand that individuals have a preference in clothing that is comfortable and allows for adequate movement. 

COVID-19 Health and Safety Information:

In an effort to keep everyone safe at this event we have included some additional measures and requirements, please read the below carefully to ensure you are aware of all the health and safety rules for the event. 

• Registration has been limited to 30 participants to ensure social distancing, instruction fidelity and safety for participants. This means that if you have not registered for the event you will not be permitted to participate. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.
• Please "check in" with the yoga instructor upon arrival, at this time your temperature will be taken. Anyone with a fever will not be permitted to participate.  
• All yoga "spots" will be marked 6 feet apart to ensure appropriate social distancing, please make sure you set up in one of the marked spots. 
• For safety reasons, we will not be providing any yoga mats for participation, you must bring your own. 
• Hand sanitizer will be available for you to use, feel free to use it as often as you'd like. 
• It is not only appropriate but acceptable to ask another participant to provide more space between you and them. 
• Masks should be worn upon arrival and while mingling, however, do not need to be worn during the yoga session. 
• In the event that we feel we can no longer hold in person yoga sessions due to health concerns, remaining sessions will be moved to a virtual platform.
