Stonewall Sports is an LGBTQ+ & Ally community-based, non-profit sports organization founded in 2010 that strives to raise funds for local non-profit organizations. Our league values each player for who they are and what they bring to the league's community. 

Detroit joined the Stonewall Sports family in 2019 through the vision of Mitchell Jeffery and David Russell. It was their vision to utilize recreational sports as a way to increase communal bonding within the metro Detroit LGBTQ+ community. 

This is an all gender, all experience level league. The league will utilize the rules and regulations of the Stonewall Kickball Association. 

Dates/Time: All games will be played on Sundays at either 11 AM or Noon. 

Facility: This season we will play at the Tindal Activity Center in Detroit, tucked behind the Social Security Building, and located at 10301 W. Seven Mile Detroit, MI 48221.

Registration Cost: $35 per player, this cost includes your official registered player shirt. Also in an effort to make Stonewall available to everyone, we utilize a fee waiver program that you can learn more about here. 

Registration Information: Registration for this league will begin May 1, 2021 and run through the end of May 16, 2021.

• Teams: A team is formed when 10 players register and play. A team can have up to 13 players. Any team that does not have the required 10 registered players when registration closes will revert to free agents and will be assigned to formed teams. We will do our best to keep groups together. If we have an odd number of teams, we may make changes to teams to accommodate everyone after prior notice to captains. 

• Captains: If you plan on being the captain of a team, you will need to register first and then have players register under your team name. You will also be required to attend a general information session the week before the season begins. Any emails will be sent once the date/time is confirmed along with further information.

• Players:
  • I plan to create a team: If you plan to create a team you will need to register as the team captain (see above). Then you can tell your friends to register as a team player to join your squad. To become one of the new teams, you must register 10 players.
    
  • I plan to join a team: If you already know which team you are going to play on, you will need to register as a team player. Keep in mind that you cannot randomly join any team. Captains may ask that a player be removed from their team prior to the close of registration. Captains can email the kickball leadership team to move a player from their team, but only after the captain has communicated with the player first and explained the removal.
    
  • I want to play but don't have a team: That's fantastic! This league is about making new friends and building community. Register as a free agent and we will place you on a team. We will host a registration event where you can meet other Stonewall players. This event is scheduled to be held on Saturday May 8, 2021 from 4-7 PM at SOHO in Ferndale. There you will be able to meet board members, team captains and other players. You may also find a team you would like to join.
    
  • I have a few friends but not a team: If you have a few friends but not a full team you can register as a Small Group. We will do our best to make sure that you are all on the same team with one another. If for some reason the group has to be broken up we will notify all of the players.

• May 30 - Preseason Meet and Greet at SOHO in Ferndale from 1-3 PM (Memorial Day Weekend Sunday)
• June 3 - T-Shirt Pickup, Umpire & Captains Meeting Happy Hour from 5- 7:30 PM at Founders Tap Room Beer Garden in Detroit
• June 6 - Game 1
• June 13 - Game 2
• June 20 - Game 3
• June 27 - Game 4
• July 4 - Bye Week (Independence Day)
• July 11 - Game 5
• July 18 - Game 6
• July 25 - Game 7
• Aug. 1 - Game 8
• Aug. 8 - Playoffs/Championship

All events above will be on Sundays unless otherwise stated. All games above will be at Tindal Activity Center unless otherwise stated. Additional events may be added throughout the season.

Please note participants will be required to follow official guidelines from the CDC and MDHHS throughout the season, which currently means face coverings are not required for fully vaccinated folks, since our season is outdoors. However, Stonewall Sports - Detroit staff will have hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes and face coverings on hand every Sunday for those who want them.
